The perennial favourites at JAGD & HUND

Simply beastly: naturally, birds of prey and hunting dog breeds will once again take centre stage at JAGD & HUND, demonstrating their skills in Halls 3 and 4 in breathtaking falconry demonstrations and as faithful canine companions and working gundogs. Visitors to the show can relax to traditional hunting music played by brass bands in the event area in Hall 3 and on the special event stage in Hall 4. The German Deer Calling Championship will also be held again at the venue and will award prizes to the best stag imitators at 12:00 noon on 27 January in Hall 4. The top three winners will also qualify for the European Championship in 2023. In addition, the popular fashion shows here will present outdoor hunting utility clothing, traditional outfits and the latest fashion trends. Another exciting feature will be the key ongoing topic of wildlife rescue which will be covered by the State Hunting Association of North Rhine Westphalia and exhibitors such as drone specialist Copterpro.

The WILD FOOD FESTIVAL – fine game cuisine

In 2023, the WILD FOOD FESTIVAL in Hall 8 will once again be thrilling visitors with big-name culinary masters at work in the kitchen, and with exciting talks and tips and tricks on delicious game specialities live on stage. Gourmets and amateur chefs can sample tasty game dishes and accompanying aperitifs, browse for suitable accessories for their own kitchens and be inspired by well-known celebrity and Michelin-starred chefs at cooking demonstrations and in face-to-face cooking workshops: Wednesday, for example, will see popular Austrian TV chef Johann Lafer, famous from cooking shows such as 'Himmel un Erd' and 'Lafer! Lichter! Lecker!', cooking with abandon to the delight of onlookers. On Thursday, Michelin-starred chef Benedikt Faust will be demonstrating how to become a contender for a coveted star or two by serving up avant-garde gourmet game cuisine. Dirk Grammon will also be offering insights into his unmistakably French-influenced cuisine in his live cooking session on Saturday. Incidentally, he collected another Michelin star just this year. As in past years, State Hunting Association chefs Magdalene and Wolfgang Grabitz will be demonstrating homely-meets-exotic game cuisine from forest, field and stream to their audiences on each day of the show. Throughout the entire week, experts will guide visitors daily on stage through a veritable encyclopedia of game cuisine – from A to Z.

All for a good cause: Conrad Baierl (a.k.a. the Wild Butcher) and 'Wild auf Wild' (= Game for Game) are collecting for the German Wildlife Rescue organisation. Motto: “Thump the Boar”. For a donation, visitors can put their punching power to the test at this game-themed interpretation of the fairground classic “Ring the Bell”. Followers of the German Hunting Association helped create the game via social media. On the last day of the show, Conrad Baierl will present the proceeds of the fundraiser to Nicole Heitzig, President of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Hunting Association and member of the board of German Wildlife Rescue.

Admission to the WILD FOOD FESTIVAL is already included in the JAGD & HUND ticket. Exclusive workshops with well-known celebrity, TV and Michelin-starred chefs, where visitors can wield the wooden spoon themselves in a professional setting, are among the special offerings at the WILD FOOD FESTIVAL which are available to be booked separately.
