Europe's largest hunting show offers unique product diversity at international level
Five stages and a wealth of active involvement – the supporting programme of Europe's largest hunting show is once again brimming with innovation and inspiration
The next JAGD & HUND show is due to be held between 24 and 29 January 2023. As well as interesting exhibitors and superb programme highlights, Europe's largest hunting show now offers even more concentrated expertise and captivating entertainment for all hunters, hunting enthusiasts, dog and nature lovers, and families. These include new additions such as pub table discussions with industry experts and a new 'Blind Date' event.
Dortmund, 6 December 2022 – The popular JAGD & HUND show will soon be held once again at Messe Dortmund offering a host of innovations and novelties in the world of hunting to delight people of all ages. The programme, which this year occupies five stages and a large number of special events areas, will include top-notch specialist talks, rousing stage performances and a variety of hands-on activities. Informative: expert talks covering a wide range of topics
Appearing for the first time at the show with a superb programme of talks will be magazine publisher Paul Parey. The topics being addressed in Hall 4 will be 'Leaf hunting', 'Stimulus hunting for fox and raccoon', 'Deploying working gundogs after the shot', 'Safe retrieval', 'Basics of water work" and 'Deer fighting'. The new talks stage in Hall 5 is also set to be a major attraction. As well as expert presentations by well-known hunting duo 'Teppe und Schwenen', speakers from bodies such as German agriculture publisher 'dlv – Deutscher Landwirtschaftsverlag', 'Jagdservice Franken' and gunsmith association 'VDB – Verband Deutscher Büchsenmacher' plus photographer Jenny Figge will be on hand to share knowledge with visitors between Wednesday and Friday. Jenny will highlight the differences between photographing working gundogs and their pet counterparts. As well as offering tips and tricks for taking great smartphone photos, she will also shed light on the special requirements of hunting photography and take photos of four-legged visitors to the show. On the last two days of the show, psychologist Claudia Breit will address the contrasting topic of 'Loving animals, killing animals – how can I deal with it?', shedding light on where the double standards in meat consumption come from and how to counter hostility.
Sport, fun & games: activity highlights in 2023
Numerous 'join in and try out' activities are set to draw hunting enthusiasts to the new lecture and event area in Hall 5 – including a treasure hunt, a hunter's Blind Date show followed by a hunter's singles party, and a prize competition organised by Teppe and Schwenen. Visitors will also be able to watch a raised hide being built by professionally, and join in some hands-on activities. Also, supplier ‘RWS’ will be exhibiting a shooting range in Hall 5 where visitors will be able to test their rifle skills and learn more about sustainability. The German Bowhunting Association will be bringing a new attraction to Hall 8 in the form of an archery stand allowing visitors to demonstrate their skills with the bow and arrow. The European Bowhunting Federation will also be in attendance, offering information on bowhunting, relevant requirements and possibilities.
Great show: film premières and a trip down the pub
The HORRIDO social media zone for bloggers and influencers in Hall 7 will offer not just a superb stage programme featuring bloggers from the hunting scene: visitors will also be able to enjoy a free film première from video platform 'Hunt on Demand' every day starting at 16:00 hrs featuring high-quality video content for every hunter and hunting enthusiast including hunting videos from 'Hunter Brothers' and 'Dreispross'. Another attraction will be the new #gearundbier pub table event from GEARTESTER.de giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary beer and a sociable chat with experts from companies such as 'PUMA', 'Blaser', 'Sauer', 'Mauser' or 'HIKMICRO' on the subject of hunting and equipment. There will also be the opportunity to win some great prizes from the companies involved.
Old favourites at JAGD & HUND
In 2023, birds of prey and hunting dog breeds will again take centre stage at the show, impressively demonstrating their skills in falconry shows and as companion dogs and working gundogs. Visitors will also be able to relax and listen to the brass band during a stop at the event area in Hall 3 or the special events area in Hall 4, and there will be an extra rush of adrenaline in store for visitors in the form of off-road 4x4 vehicles from Landrover and Subaru at the annual off-road vehicle course in Hall 3. The German Deer Calling Championship will be held once again in Hall 4, with prizes going to the best stag imitators. Another captivating offering will be important topic of Wildlife Rescue which will be addressed by the State Hunting Association of North Rhine Westphalia and exhibitors such as Copterpro who will be informing visitors about fawn rescue applications using their products. A special highlight for game fans will be the ever-popular WILD FOOD FESTIVAL in Hall 8, with famous-name TV cooks and top chefs arousing great enthusiasm for the enjoyment of game from local forests. The special events will include a variety of workshops and delight game cooking enthusiasts – participation vouchers are also available as Christmas gifts!
